Super Smash Brothers Melee

In Super Smash Bros. Melee, the young version of Link is faster but weaker than the older Link, and his grab maneuver is shorter. Also, his Kokiri Sword and bombs inflict less damage than adult Link's Master Sword and bombs. He is however faster and more maneuverable than his adult counterpart and has a quiver stocked with fire arrows rather than traditional arrows.

Pretty much every Legend of Zelda game

Young Link has appeared in nearly every Zelda game to date. He has made appearences in the following games of the series:

The Legend of Zelda A Link to the Past Ocarina of Time Majora's Mask Oracle of Seasons Oracle of Ages Four Swords The Wind Waker Four Swords Adventures The Minish Cap

While his older incarnation will only be used three times (upcoming game in 2005)

Zelda II: The Adventure of Link Ocarina of Time LoZ '05

Essentially, Young Link is the "Real" Link, and is the true hero behind The Legend of Zelda. Though some people fail to believe that he's meant to be a Young Child, though this is real evidence.

History of Young Link

In Ocarina of Time

In Ocarina of Time, Link was originally raised as a member of the child-race Kokiri (who may later have become the Koroks in The Wind Waker). Link was always considered an outsider by Mido, the leader of the Kokiri, due to the fact that unlike other Kokiri, Link did not have a guardian fairy. However other Kokiri treated him as an equal and he also became very good friends with a girl of the Kokiri, Saria, (who later becomes one of the seven sages) which made Mido particularly mad. Link's life changes when he is summoned to meet the Great Deku Tree by a fairy named Navi and thus begins an adventure, leading up to Link being trapped in time by the Master Sword of legend as Hyrule is ravaged as the warlord Ganondorf steals the legendary relic, theTriforce and gains incredible powers. When Link is later released by the Master Sword, seven years later, he returns to Kokiri Forest as a man and finds that none of his friends have grown up. At this point it is revealed by a reincarnation of the Great Deku Tree that he is in fact a Hylian orphaned in the Hyrulian Wars that took place in Hyrule some years before the game's time; the wars that were instigated by Ganondorf. Link then sets off on a quest to cleanse the land of Hyrule from Ganondorf. When this is achieved, Princess Zelda uses the power of the Ocarina of Time to return Link to the past and allow him to live out the youth that was taken from him.

In Majora's Mask

In Majora's Mask, Young Link falls into some form of dimensional rift and arrives in the alternate world of Termina. There, he saves Termina from the power of the evil Majora's Mask, which is trying to crash the moon of the planet into the country's capital, Clock Town. In this game, Link never grows up in the traditional sense, but the power of the evil Fierce Deity's mask allows Link to turn into a powerful adult form, known as Oni-Link
