Yoyo Records (aka Yoyo Recordings) is an independent record label and recording studio in Olympia, Washington owned by Pat Maley. Pat Maley was also a member of the band Courtney Love with fellow Olympian Lois Maffeo. Heavens to Betsy - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (225 words)
Their first recording, a split single on the independent label K Records with Bratmobile, put them center stage in the Riot Grrl movement of the early 1990s.
The band recorded three singles, produced one LP/CD, Calculated, and contributed to many compilations while they were together.
These recordings are now sought after by collectors.
The Need - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (588 words)
Their last album, recorded in 2000 was prophetically titled The Need is Dead.
On this recording they further expanded their range of instumentation with the addition of synthesizer and samples contributed by Joe Preston of The Melvins, and theremin, played by producer Mike Lastra of Smegma.
After this the band parted ways and Rachel Carns now performs in the band King Cobra, while Radio Sloan has been in the bands The Circuit Side, Fact or Fiction and Courtney Love's recent all-female backing band The Chelsea.
