The Institute of Liturgical Studies held a scholarly meeting on the 100th anniversary of the birth of outstanding Jewish writer, philosopher and culturologist Manes Sperber (12.12.1905-5.02.1984).
He was born and spent his childhood in the Galician town of Zabolotiv near Kolomyia.
In volume 1 of his memoirs, “God’s Water Carriers”, he described the difficult life of the Jewish community of Zabolotiv, their religious feelings, customs, and communication with the Ukrainian environment.
