Alistair Clarkson was widely criticised for the decison to keep him in the team and at his position, as he is seen as too skinny and not strong enough to play at the elite level. Dawson persevered, but was dropped from the team after round 8, but rebounded for 4 games (Rounds 15-18). Aside from being played at fullback, Dawson also has played as a quick, mobile defender. He was selected with pick 41 in the 2003 draft.
