Born in Tamchekett, Zeidane studied in Nouakchott, then at the University of Nice in France. On his return to Mauritania, he taught at the University of Nouakchott before joining the Bank of Mauritania. In 2000, he was posted to the World Bank, while he later served as economic counsel to the President of Mauritania, Maaouya Ould Sid'Ahmed Taya. In July 2004, he became the Governor of the Bank of Mauritania.[1][2] He was virtually the only minister to maintain his post following the coup of August 2005,[1][3] leaving the position in September 2006 because of his presidential candidacy.[1] Nouakchott (Arabic: نواكشوط or انواكشوط; population estimate 1999: 881,000) is the capital and by far the largest city of Mauritania. ...
