The original TV remote control was a wired version, released in 1950, that soon attracted complaints about an unsightly length of cable from the viewer's chair to the TV set. Cmdr. Eugene McDonald, Zenith President and Founder, ordered his engineers to develop a wireless version but the use of radio waves was soon discounted due to interference issues. Zeinith Was also known for help in the production of the modern Clamshell Laptop Earlier Attepmts at a portable computer produced clunky, heavy, unusable luggables, that needed a wall outlet to work anyway. Zeinith Came up with the idea of haveing a " Clamshell" Design, where the screen folds on the top of the computers keyboard, which was placed directly above the CPU. But, Zenith Did not recive recignition for the design. People wern't interested in portable computers at the time. Back then, It was all about computing power, When people finally were interested, it was too late. A Differnt Company Had already claimed the idea.
