In astronomy, the zodiac is the region of the sky close to the square on which the plane of our solar system intersects the Celestial sphere.
The width of the zodiac allows for the fact that the orbits of the other bodies are inclined relative to plane of the ecliptic, and thus extend about 8ยบ above and below the ecliptic.
