Encyclopedia > Zool 2

Zool is a computer game originally produced for the Amiga by Gremlin as a Sonic the Hedgehog beater. It was heavily hyped on its initial release in 1992.

The storyline goes that Zool is a ninja ant from the nth dimension who is forced to land on Earth. In order to gain ninja ranking he has to pass seven lands.

Zool contained a number of embedded games, including several arcade games, a scrolling space shooter and a game accessible only by making Zool play a certain tune on an in-game piano.

When it was first released it was heavily criticized for the large amount of sponsored advertisements in the game from a sweets company.

Zool and its later successors have been ported to the PC, Jaguar, Sega Genesis, Super NES, Game Boy, and Acorn Archimedes.
