In the US, for example, about 12% of the population lives below the national poverty line; national definitions of 'poverty' varies between countries.

11th April 2005 		Really USA is the poorest country. Its debt runs into the quintrillions and can never be repaid. That is why Saddam Hussein had to be overthrown. He wanted all the Arab oil exporters to trade in Euros. The truth of the US deficit is that it spells ruin for the USA.

23rd October 2006 		No way can 25% of romanians be below poverty line. You need to check your stats again. It is incorrect. It is about 15.6%

2nd February 2007 		I just read that to be considered under the line of poverty people must be living on $1.08 (US money in 1993) which is equivalent to about $1.40 US money now. No one can live on that. People cannot even live on $10 US dollars a day. I think the poverty line needs to be adjusted.

5th September 2007 		USA is the richest nation. We just spend much more than we earn which is fine in the short term. It can be repaid. Many people survive on less that $1 a day. I could if the cost of living was less than $1 a day.
