DEFINITION: Ratio of premium gasoline price to world average
Units: Ratio of Gasoline Price to World Average
Units: Pump price for super gasoline (US$ per liter): Fuel prices refer to the pump prices of the most widely sold grade of gasoline. Prices have been converted from the local currency to U.S. dollars, and the ratio of the gas price to the world average in the same time period was used in order to normalize the data. For more information, see World Development Indicators, Table 3.12.

I must say that this list is fairly accurate. .95/liter US$ is right around what you would be paying for gas right now here in Canada 1.03/ liter CND$.

The price for Canada is right.
I have a question: What explains the huge difference between the top country (Uruguay, around 2$) and Irak (around 0,05 dollar) ?
Thanks

I have the same question as Daniel G. (26th June 2005):
Are the Prices expected to be updated here soon?

I would like to know what the average cost for a gallon of diesel fuel is in maybe Germany vrs the average for a gallon of gas in the US. Then if the average diesel car in Europe get twice the mileage as a gas car in the US the average European pays less per mile per travel. Then make the same calculation not including the gas taxes that drive up the cost of fuel in Europe. The European people get benefits from those taxes in excess of the benefits US drivers derive from their gas taxes making driving effectively even cheaper in Europe.

Please revise the price in Venezuela. I am sure that is lower than $0.20 per liter.

These numbers do not refer to a price. They're a ratio of the price of gas in each state to the average world price. Cuba and Mexico, with ratios of 1, have gas prices that are exactly the average world price.
