Aren't these figures from 2002? (I'm looking at the line below the chart where it says: "DEFINITION") If so, of course they will differ from last year's numbers! Maybe they should change the title of this chart because I can see how it can be confusing.

Totally inaccurate stats. They have the U.S. total number of procedures at 90,992, and yet the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery's stats show that 11 *million* procedures were performed here last year (2 million surgical). And this doesn't include any reconstructive plastic surgery. Nice to see that their data is off by a factor of 100!

For the United States is the 90,992 per year? or per month?
or from when to when ?

These statistics do not represent the work of every plastic surgeon in each country and this is why it is smaller than the numbers presented by National societies of plastic surgery. For example, in the US there are 6,600 members of ASPS, the National plastic surgery society, and only 189 are ISAPS members; In Brazil there are 4,400 members of the SBCP and only 144 are members of ISAPS.

Aesthetic plastic surgery refers to any surgical procedure which is used to improve appearance. Common plastic surgery procedures include: Chemical peels, Botox injections, Lip augmentation, Laser resurfacing, Liposuction, Face lifts, Breast augmentation, Breast reduction, Breast lift, Nose job, Tummy tuck, Brow lift and Eye lift.

Although plastic surgery is commonly associated with celebrities such as Michael Jackson, aesthetic surgery is also performed for reasons other than vanity such as scar reduction, reducing symptoms of skin diseases and reconstruction after injury.

Plastic Surgery is also commonly associated with the United States, however on per capita ranking, the U.S. is well down the list. Switzerland performs nearly seven times as many plastic surgery procedures per capita as the United States.
