14th May 2011 		Actually the causes are not always purely psychological, there can be physical causes as well, such as an over production of serotonin in the brain or not enough CKG's being produced by the digestive tract (bulimia, although this occurs due to binging mostly). And yes it is very difficult to get insurance to cover eating disorders in the US. Most state funded insurance (such as MassHealth) will only cover you if you are severe enough to go into an in-patient setting. They will not cover intensive out patient or residential programs. Sadly this can lead to patients waiting even longer to get help because they aren't "sick enough." Private insurers are more likely to pay for other services, but either the patient is left picking up the slack, or they are discharged as soon as they are deemed "healthy," leading to high rates of relapse.

9th October 2010 		Oh, don't worry... The UK might provide assistance to some, but according to a study in 2008 500 families were surveyed and 82% were not even offered support. I am so sick of people bagging on the U.S... If it's greener on the other side, leave...
