What are the main religions in Africa and what is their affect on the people? This response does not appear in any of the webpages that I have looked into and i am wondering if you are capable of answering it. If so I will be planning to support this webpage with full support, thankyou

In response to Robyn 13 - After seeing a 4% growth in tourism in 2004 over 2003 and a 100% growth in the industry over the past decade, South Africa officially launched a Black Economic Empowerment Tourism Charter, under which it aims to have a third of the industry owned and operated by Black South Africans by 2014. Tourism is an important industry in South Africa, which ranks 22 in terms of tourist arrivals.

Africa has:
  • 3 Monarchies - Swaziland, Morocco and Lesotho

  • 2 Countries in government transition - Eritrea and Somalia

  • 1 Country with no government due to its unresolved sovreignty status - Western Sahara

  • 1 Authoritarian regime - Sudan

  • 2 Dictatorships - Libya and the Democratic Republic of Congo

  • 4 Consitutional democracies - Ghana, Zimbabwe, Sierra Leone and Malawi

The remaining 39 countries are republics.

In response to Hwamlikan:
North African countries share many features with the Middle East such as religion, language and some cultural factors. From a strictly geographical viewpoint, however these nations are located in the African continent.

To compare African countries and those in the Middle East, select both these categories from the 'Make your own graph:' selection criteria at the top of the page.
