<p>Budget revenues and expenditures per capita vary considerably even among developed countries. <p>Of the G8 countries - France, United States, the United Kingdom, Russia, Germany, Japan, Italy and Canada <a href=http://g8.market2000.ca/>. http://g8.market2000.ca/</a> - only the United Kingdom, Canada and Russia had budget surpluses in 2003. <p>Canada’s surplus was the largest, $534.04 per person. Japan’s per capita expenditures were $2,177.43 higher than per capita revenues. <p>Germany’s revenues and expenditures per person were the highest. Russia’s were the lowest. The United States had higher budget revenues and expenditures per capita than France, Japan, Russia and Canada. <p>Six of the G8 countries were in the top 50 in revenues per capita (Japan was 51st). Seven were in the top 50 in per capita budget expenditures. None were in the top ten in either category. Russia was ranked much lower in revenues (130th) and in expenditures (144th).

This entry includes revenues, expenditures, and capital expenditures. These figures are calculated on an exchange rate basis, i.e., not in purchasing power parity (PPP) terms.
