Plot The series involves Laura Dalton, played by Dench, a single, middle-aged translator who is somewhat socially inept. Her sister Helen, played by Penhaligon, and her husband Phil (Richard Warwick) pair her up with Mike Selway (Williams), a shy landscape gardener.
