Akramiya is said to be an Islamic terrorist organization that operates in Uzbekistan. Some reports claim that Akramiya broke away from the Hizb ut-Tahrir terrorist organization, but there is little evidence that this actually happened. Akram Yuldashev formed Akramiya in the Fergana Valley area in Uzbekistan in 1996. Propagandists in the Uzbek government claim that Yuldashev's 1992 pamphlet Yimonga Yul (Way to Faith) criticized Hizb-ut Tahrir's goal of creating an international caliphate as impractical, but in reality Yuldashev says nothing about Hizb-ut Tahrir in the pamphlet and does not even mention Uzbekistan at all. [1]Some say that Yudashev argues in favor of creating an Islamic state on a local level.[2][3] This article or section is in need of attention from an expert on the subject. ... Yet others have claimed that Akramiya is a splinter group from Hizb-ut Tahrir which tried to stop young people from joining the latter organisation.
Akramiya suggests that economic success and prosperity is the key to an Islamic way of life, and that part of business profits should be diverted to help the poor.

Akramiya was founded in 1996 by Akram Yuldoshev, a 29-year-old math teacher from Andijon, site of much of last week's violence.
Regardless, the Akramiya Islamic Group, being outside the official state-sponsored Islamic religion, remains banned, and anyone associated with the group faces arrest.
