Stewart was born in New York City and raised in New York and at her parents' homes in Westport, Connecticut and Easthampton, New York. Her father, Andrew Stewart, and her mother divorced in 1990; she and her father are now estranged. Stewart married John Cuti, an attorney, in 1997. Cuti served as a trial lawyer during her mother's legal proceedings alongside Robert Morvillo, her lead attorney. Stewart and Cuti separated long before the government indicted her mother (which happened in June 2003). They were not legally divorced until mid-2004, after the trial was over. Stewart said on Larry King Live and The Howard Stern Radio Show that she's dating someone new.
