Sir Ambrose Shea (268 words)
Ambrose Shea was born in St. John's, Newfoundland, September 17, 1815.
Shea was an active delegate, especially concerned with the poverty of his countrymen, for which he hoped confederation would prove a helpful and readily acceptable prescription.
Shea's services to the colony itself were recognized in the granting of a K.C.M.G. in 1886 and in a nomination to the governorship of the island.
