Anthony Way was born in London on December 14, 1982. and was a chorister by the age of eight. His father worked as a prison officer at HMP Wormwood Scrubs, and it was the prison chaplain (the Rev. Ray Guymer), who, in 1990, suggested to Mr. Way that Anthony should go for a voice trial at London's St. Paul's Cathedral. He was accepted and became a junior member of one of the world's most famous choirs. December 14 is the 348th day of the year (349th in leap years) in the Gregorian Calendar. ...

This huge and unexpected success prompted the release of more solo albums by Anthony. The first of these was 1995's "The Choirboy," an amalgamation of classic and contemporary songs which was banned from the UK classical charts. A court battle then ensued between Anthony's record label and the Classic Chart compilers that resulted in huge media controversy and saw Anthony all over the papers, propelling the album to gold status selling 150,000 copies. (The chart compilers soon saw the error of their ways, and started a new classical- crossover chart in January 1996.) The summer of 1995 also saw Anthony and the choir play a pivotal role in the "VE Day 50" celebrations. Firstly, St. Paul's Cathedral hosted the National Service of Thanksgiving that was broadcast live on UK television. The second part of the event took place the day after in London's Hyde Park, where Anthony confidently performed "Panis Angelicus" in front of a crowd of 150,000 people including HM The Queen and the rest of the Royal Family. The event was screened live to countless millions on worldwide television, and introduced a whole new audience to Anthony's outstanding talent. 1995 (MCMXCV) was a common year starting on Sunday of the Gregorian calendar. ...
By the summer of 1996, Anthony had risen to the rank of Deputy Head Chorister at St. Paul's. He and the choir were given the rare honour of serenading HM Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother on her 96th Birthday, and recorded "The Choirboy's Christmas," released the following November. The choir also recorded two other albums at this time. Known by now as the direct inheritor of the mantle of Aled Jones (who was very much in retirement and out of the public eye), Anthony was now one of classical music's biggest stars. His label Decca spent an initial advertising budget of £300,000 in the run up to Christmas. This saw Anthony publicize the album on prime time TV shows. By the following Easter, the album had sold over 60,000 copies. 1997 saw Anthony's last album release as a treble with the Choir of Uppingham School, during which time he continued to be in heavy demand for performances and released his "Wings of a Dove" that stormed the UK Classical Chart, entering at No 3. Whilst there on a music scholarship, he continued to grow as a musician, now studying oboe and voice as part of his studies. In May of that year, maturity took its toll on his signature treble voice that finally changed forever. His final few concerts saw him perform in Kings College Chapel, Cambridge and at the Home of the English Sinfonia in Stevenage where he performed tracks live from the album for the very last time alongside his old friend Tabitha Watling. To mark his retirement as a treble soloist, Decca Records released "The Best of Anthony Way." in 1998. 1997 (MCMXCVII) was a common year starting on Wednesday of the Gregorian calendar. ...
