Encyclopedia > Charles Lisner

Charles Lisner is the Australian founder of the Queensland Ballet. Started dancing late in life, in his early twenties, and travelled to London where he spent time with the Sadler's Wells Ballet. Returned to Australia and established a ballet school in Queensland with virtually no money. From the school grew the Queensland Ballet, and Lisner married one of his dancers. Documented his experiences in the book 'My Journey through Dance'.
