Crimpshrine was a punk rock band from Berkeley, California, United States, formed by seminal punk rock zine Cometbus founder, Aaron Cometbus and Jeff Ott. The band's origins go back to 1982. Within D.I.Y. communities, the band is often considered as one of the most important pop-punk bands, especially in the Bay Area scene. However, due to their relative obscurity, many pop-punk fans outside of the D.I.Y. communities rarely even recognize the band. Biography Crimpshrine was a punk rock band from Berkeley, California. Drummer Aaron Elliot (aka Aaron Cometbus) and guitarist/vocalist Jeff Ott began playing music together in 1982, and Crimpshrine formally existed from 1986 to 1989. The band grew out of the East Bay scene, centered around 924 Gilman Street, and had an important influence on later East Bay bands such as Green Day and pop-punk in general. Crimpshrine toured the U.S. once in 1988 in a Ford Pinto, bringing only guitars and drumsticks as equipment, and borrowing the necessary equipment from town to town.
