Krzystzof Komeda and the films of Roman Polanski (713 words)
Krzysztof "Komeda" Trzcinksi is closely associated with creation of the jazz movement in Poland and is well known in Europe through his body of jazz and soundtrack recordings and many festival performances.
Komeda was born in April 27, 1931 in the medieval city of Poznan, Poland.
Komeda's music always adds nuances and emotional depth to the scenes; not surprisingly, though well-suited to the context of each film, his soundtracks are eminently listenable and can stand apart nearly as well as better-known works such as Astigmatic.
Komeda Project (565 words)
Krzysztof Komeda (1931-1969), in his short life (until his untimely death in a tragic accident in Hollywood at the age of 38), wrote music for more than 60 films, including classics of the Polish cinema by the Academy Award winners Roman Polanski (“Knife in the Water”) and Andrzej Wajda (“Innocent Sorcerers”).
Krzysztof Komeda is generally credited with the launching (in the mid 1950s) of the modern jazz movement in Poland, and his recordings – particularly 1965’s “Astigmatic” – made important contributions toward the shaping of a European aesthetic in jazz composition.
KOMEDA PROJECT, a jazz quintet, was brought to life from a desire to perform, and be able to hear live, music of Krzysztof Komeda again.
