The purpose of this chapter is to describe the Swedish legal framework on combatting discrimination to which migrants and minorities may be subjected in employment, as well as the public institutions that have evolved in this area and to assess the effectiveness of this legal and administrative structure.
Also, a parliamentary committee scrutinizing the Swedish immigration policy in 1992, stated that although Sweden had made relatively good headway towards the aim of equality, the differences between immigrants and other citizens, with regard to economic and social status, were substantial.
The Swedish labour market is to a considerable extent under the direction of the social partners and the Swedish government has been reluctant to interfere in the relationship between employers and employees.
There are many types of lists best described by the characteristics of the individuals or organizations on the list or by the source of the names on the list.
For example, a list may consist of catalog house customers, or it may be a compiled list of medical professionals taken from various directories, a list of magazine subscribers, or a prospect list of people expected to be good customers once promoted.
Lists are the lifeblood of the direct-marketing industry.
