Through this prize HMGS is promoting an understanding of military history by rewarding outstanding research which explicates the role of military institutions, strategies and conflicts in shaping military operations or national interests.
Prizes are awarded to two outstanding projects (1 junior project, 1 senior project) that document, analyze, and convey issues related to the importance of Rachel Carson's work the the history of conservation.
