The Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences was formed during the Higher Education Reform of 1977, thus meriting a more prominent position amongst its peers. However, because it sorts under the Ministry of Agriculture, it is traditionally placed last in the list. As independent institutions are not mentioned in the Higher Education Ordinance, they take no particular place in the university order of precedence.
