Encyclopedia > Max Carlish

Max Carlish is a BAFTA-award and Emmy-award winning documentary maker who made a Rockumentary about Pete Doherty, lead singer of The Libertines and Babyshambles. The filming eventually halted when Doherty assaulted Carlish after he had sold photographs of Doherty taking heroin to the press. The term rockumentary is a neologism denoting a television or movie documentary about rock and roll or its musicians. ... The Libertines were a critically acclaimed British rock and roll band noted for their chaotic live outings, often seemingly ramshackle touring schedule and uniquely English take on punk rock. ... Babyshambles Babyshambles refers to a set of recordings by United Kingdom rock and roll band, The Libertines, and to a separate band formed by singer and guitarist, Pete Doherty. ...

Some of Carlish's footage was recently shown on Channel 4 in a programme entitled "Stalking Pete Doherty." The programme focused on Carlish's obsession with Doherty more so than it did with Doherty's life, and much of the footage showed how Doherty wanted nothing to do with Carlish or his film.
