Risa is a fictional planet in the Star Trek universe, renowned as a pleasure resort and frequently used by Starfleet members (including Commander Riker and Captain Picard of the Enterprise-D) for shore leave around the time of the 24th century. The planet orbits several suns and it's climate is controlled by a weather modification network (the natural climate is extremely stormy). The people of Risa (especially the women) are extremely open and will freely share their planet (and even themselves) with vacationers - a practice known as "Jamaharon." A planet (from the Greek πλανήτης, planētēs which means wanderer or more forcefully vagrant, tramp) is a body of considerable mass that orbits a star and that produces no energy through nuclear fusion. ...
