SummerSlam is an annual professional wrestling pay-per-view (PPV) event held in August by World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). The first SummerSlam was held on August 29, 1988 in Madison Square Garden in New York City. SummerSlam is regarded as the second biggest pay-per-view of the year after WrestleMania. The event is dubbed as "The Biggest Party of the Summer". It is usually called one of the "Big Four", as, along with WrestleMania, Royal Rumble and Survivor Series, as it was one of the original four annual WWE pay-per-views. As with the other three, the PPV brand extension brought together both the RAW and SmackDown! brands onto the same card. The 2006 SummerSlam event was the first to feature the ECW brand. It does not have a "featured match" like the other Big Four PPVs. Image File history File links No higher resolution available. ... Image File history File links No higher resolution available. ...
