The Town of Gawler is the name of the Local Government Area containing Gawler and its suburbs north of Adelaide in South Australia. Gawler is not part of the Adelaide metropolitan region because the Town Council wishes to keep its town title. The Corporation of the Town of Gawler was established on 9 July1857 as the residents were not happy that the town area was covered by three different district councils.
