The history of Vanden Plas is not well documented prior to the end of the second War. Among others, Vanden Plas made bodies for a number of Rolls Royce Phantom III, Bentleys such as the 1930 3 1/2 liter and the Mark VI Drophead. Typically from one to 7 similar bodies would be built for a particular model. After its acquistion by Austin, it became quite well known for its pretty "Princess Limousine" (which most people then and today would confuse in appearance for a Rolls Royce).
