Approximately 75 000 light years from his arranged mate, Vorik declared kunat so'lik with his superior officer, Lt. Torres. Unfortunately, she declined his declaration. Vorik was forced to search for alternative ways to resolve his pon farr, but he found no relief from a holographic mate or meditation. As a last resort, he initiated a telepathic mating bond, referred to as the plak tow, with Lt. Torres which triggered her own Klingon mating instincts. To ultimately resolve this plak tow, Vorik and Torres engaged in combat. Upon completion of their fight, Vorik's pon farr was resolved, and he was able to return to normal duty.
