Walworth County is a county located in the state of Wisconsin. As of 2000, the population is 93,759. Its county seat is Elkhorn⁶.

Geography

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 1,493 km² (576 mi²). 1,438 km² (555 mi²) of it is land and 55 km² (21 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 3.68% water.

Demographics

As of the census² of 2000, there are 93,759 people, 34,522 households, and 23,267 families residing in the county. The population density is 65/km² (169/mi²). There are 43,783 housing units at an average density of 30/km² (79/mi²). The racial makeup of the county is 94.49% White, 0.84% Black or African American, 0.23% Native American, 0.65% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 2.62% from other races, and 1.14% from two or more races. 6.54% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 34,522 households out of which 31.80% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 55.40% are married couples living together, 8.20% have a female householder with no husband present, and 32.60% are non-families. 24.70% of all households are made up of individuals and 9.20% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.57 and the average family size is 3.07.

In the county, the population is spread out with 24.20% under the age of 18, 13.80% from 18 to 24, 27.60% from 25 to 44, 21.80% from 45 to 64, and 12.70% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 35 years. For every 100 females there are 98.90 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 97.20 males.
