Wayne Michael Gardner (born October 11, 1959) was an Australianmotorcycle road racer and touring car racer. Wayne Michael Gardner, OAM (born October 11, 1959 in Wollongong, New South Wales) is an Australian retired motorcycle road racer and touring car racer.
Gardner began his racing career in 1977 at age 18, riding a second-hand 250cc bike in the Australian championship and finishing second on debut at Amaroo Park.
In 1994 he formed his own team, WayneGardner Racing, and continued racing V8 Supercars until 2000, the year in which he won pole position for the Bathurst 1000 however failed to finish the race.
