The approximate number of Romani people within the nation.
Note that "Gypsy" is not the preferred term. Data is for 1997. It is important to
note the very great difficulties that attend any attempts to estimate ROmani numbers worldwide. Sources are often highly unreliable for a number of reasons. Jeremy Druker's discussion of these difficulties can be found at
here. He concludes with the following: "With such obstacles against finding statistically sound figures, the best approach may be that of Mark Braham, author of the UNHCR report. He accompanied his chart of estimated Romani populations with the disclaimer: "It is doubtful that the numbers are less than shown; they might be twice as high."
