The 1995 Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study collected educational achievement data in mathematics and science for students from 41 countries. Sixteen of these countries participated in the physics study.
Due to resource constraints, the advanced science study focused solely on physics achievement. These test results show the mean score for students in their final year of secondary education who had taken physics courses. In countries where all students take physics, only those who had taken advanced physics courses were included.
The test questions covered the content areas of mechanics, electricity and magnetism, heat, wave phenomena and modern physics (particle, quantum physics, astrophysics, and relativity)
For further information see the Physics component of the TIMSS report.
To compare achievement in Science for all grade 12 students see Science aptitude grade 12 .
