DEFINITION: Ratio of premium gasoline price to world average
Units: Ratio of Gasoline Price to World Average
Units: Pump price for super gasoline (US$ per liter): Fuel prices refer to the pump prices of the most widely sold grade of gasoline. Prices have been converted from the local currency to U.S. dollars, and the ratio of the gas price to the world average in the same time period was used in order to normalize the data. For more information, see World Development Indicators, Table 3.12.

Outcome of the recent fuel subsidy strike in Nigeria is that petrol price is fixed at N97 per liter, which is equivalent to $0.61 at prevailing exchange rate of N160/$. The chart should be updated regularly, if possible weekly due to the daily changes in fuel and pump prices, especially in economies where there is deregulation.

The actual cost of gasoline here in nigeria is yet uncertain pending the outcome of Labour group consent: but prior to this time, the cost of gasoline in nigrria was not in the list. Please note this ommission.

Nigeria fuel pump price is becoming unbearable with the current situation in the country now. Government has peg it to N97 but the Labour Union is bending on the old price of N65 and no going back on the on going strike in the country.

But seriously is there any relationship between being an oil exporter and an oil producer in relation to the retail cost of pms to consumers of that country

Going by the present situation in Nigeria, indeed for those who knew Nigeria and what obtained in reality, thus the common Nigeria ordinary citizen is among the top most in term of living standard world over. The cost of living and income per head is such measured as second to non. With the present predicament in term of apparent difficulties on the side of ordinary Nigerian, there is a need for the present administration to reduce the cost of petroleum product for the teeming masses to benefit most. However, regardless of the plight of common NIGERIAN mass the price was just added, a situation most unfortunate.

Dr. Ajay. You are correct. Which makes this an almost useless chart. Also at the top of the column it says "amount" not "ratio". Poorly designed chart and not nearly as useful as one would be that had actual pump prices.

The Official price Fuel (Premium Motor Spirit- PMS)Per a liter

Guys, the prices are CORRECT. They are not given in USD or Euros. The world average price is taken as unit (1). When it says that Uruguay's price is 1.95, what it means is that the price of gas in Uruguay is 1.95 times the world average.

The annual springtime increase of U.S. gasoline prices could lead to a national average price of $2.50 per gallon, which could make a full tank for an SUV cost $65 or more. California, where gas prices are usually highest, could be averaging almost $3 a gallon by June.

GasPriceWatch.com says the national average for unleaded gas is $2.30 a gallon, 40 or 50 cents higher than last year. California gas prices are averaging $2.50 per gallon, compared to $2.10 in April 2004. By summer, Americans could be spending $5 billion more per month on gasoline than they did last year.

A Goldman Sachs analysis of how high prices would have to go to spur changes in American driving behavior predicted that oil could reach $135 a barrel by 2008, which would lead to average gas prices of about $4.30. That price is considered high enough to substantially reduce gasoline consumption.
