With Egypt's population expected to beat the 100 million mark before 2050, there is some concern over the projected increase in the over 65 years age bracket. Already, the 15-64 age group has seen its population share increase, from 61.9% of the population in 2003 to 63.5% in 2008, while the over 65 age group grew from 4.2% to 4.7% over the same period. Perhaps a good sign is the fall in the 0-14 age group, from 33.9% to 31.8%. Nevertheless, by 2050, the population over 65s is expected to reach around 18 million.Egypt Population Pyramid for 1990
