Signing a petition is the most popular method of participating in political action with at least 40% of people in each of the surveyed countries having signed a petition. Signing a petition is a relatively easy method of expressing opinion as it takes very little time or effort from those who sign. In general,European nations had a lower ranking than Canada, Australia and the United States.

When other methods of political action are considered, most European nations held a high rank in attending a demonstration. Outside of Europe (in Canada, Australa and the United States) attending a boycott was more common.
