The population in 2050 does not imply any catastrophic event. What has (will happen) happened is that the population has aged and the boom of individuals that progressed through the ages is now 80+. Also note that each bar is a five year age group and once the individuals reach 80, all individuals 80+ are counted in this group.

I am not sure I understand the Population Pyramid for 2050. Does it imply that a war/conflict/fatal disease is programmed for for Greece, because I don't know how else the popolation can be that dramatically reduced!
Please, let someone enlighten me!

In the 2005 population pyramid, it tells us a lot about Greece because there are many young men and women between the ages of 25 to 59. The births and deaths are scarce meaning that they are healthy and do not need more kids to help them in their parents’ lives.
