COMMENTARY

Hi Amber, Ethiopia's principal exports are coffee and leather products, its imports principally petroleum, machinery and other industrial products. Whereas imports of goods and services constitutes a little over 31% of the country's GDP, exports as a proportion of GDP is less than 16%, leaving a trade deficit, which was more than USD42 million in the trade balance with the USA alone, in 2003.
