Reference to "Hindi as National Language" in this information piece:

According to THE OFFICIAL LANGUAGES ACT, 1963(AS AMENDED, 1967)
(Act No. 19 of 1963), Hindi is NOT the NATIONAL Language of India.

Indian constitution does not define any National Language, and neither does it specify the word "Nation" in it's entire script in original form.

India is referred to as "Indian Union", and not a Nation as defined here. India is a sovereign country that has 30 semi-autonomous states, and most of which have been formed based on Linguistic relevance. According to all major English dictionaries, A "Nation" is a group of people with similar culture, race, language and other demographic properties. While, a Country can be defined as a group of nations. India falls into to the later. The Indian "Pledge" also specifies it as "India is my country".

Hindi along with English is defined as "Raj Basha" which means "Official Language" only. India has 12 more Official languages that are majorly spoken regional languages.

Hence referring to Hindi as National Language is objectionable. It needs to be corrected.

My sincere appreciation for maintaining such a wonderful bank of Information about all countries of the world.

Thanks & Regards
