Interesting observations about Economy > Current account balance

0

The current account balance is a tally of transactions between countries.
Balance of trade is the largest element of the current account balance. There is a balance of trade surplus when exports are more valuable than imports. This adds to GDP. A balance of trade deficit means the value of imports exceeds that of exports. This subtracts from GDP.
Another element is service imports and exports. Money spent on hotel rooms by a tourist abroad counts as a service export of the country he’s in and a service import of the country he’s from.
The third component of the current account balance is the difference between income from assets owned abroad, and money flowing out to foreign owners.
The last element of the current account balance is the difference between one-way transfers (such as foreign aid and charitable donations) coming in or going out of the country. http://www.swlearning.com/economics/econ_data/current_account/current_account_definition.html
