Censorship > Political filtering:
Indicates whether websites that express views in opposition to those of the current government (mainly on issues of human rights, freedom of expression, minority rights and religious movements) are censored or blocked. This is determined by accessing websites with provocative or objectionable content in English from within the country in question as well as from a place known to have no filtering regime. The retrieved content is then compared and scanned for discrepancies. Possible differences in blocking behavior across different ISPs is considered, as well as normal connectivity problems.Values“per”, pervasive filtering: A large portion of the targeted content in several categories is blocked.“sub”, substantial filtering: Either a number of categories are subject to a medium level of filtering or a low level of filtering is carried out across many categories.“sel”, selective filtering: A small number of specific sites across a few categories are blocked, or filtering that targets a single category or issue is present.“sus”, suspected filtering: Connectivity abnormalities suggest the presence of filtering, but no conclusive proof of deliberate tampering could be found.“ne”, no evidence of filtering or blocking.“nd”, no data.
- Hosts: This entry lists the number of Internet hosts available within a country. An Internet host is a computer connected directly to the Internet; normally an Internet Service Provider's (ISP) computer is a host. Internet users may use either a hard-wired terminal, at an institution with a mainframe computer connected directly to the Internet, or may connect remotely by way of a modem via telephone line, cable, or satellite to the Internet Service Provider's host computer. The number of hosts is one indicator of the extent of Internet connectivity.

- IP addresses: Number of IPv4 internet addresses allocated to each country.
- IP addresses (share): Share of IPv4 internet addresses allocated per country.
- IP addresses per capita: Number of IPv4 internet address allocated per 1000 residents.
- Internet Service Providers: The number of Internet Service Providers within a country. An ISP is defined as a company that provides access to the Internet.
- Livejournal users: Number of users with LiveJournal accounts (Dec 2004)
- Percent using internet: Percentage of individuals using the Internet.
- TLD: This entry includes the two-letter codes maintained by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) in the ISO 3166 Alpha-2 list and used by the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA) to establish country-coded top-level domains (ccTLDs).
- Top level domain: Country top level domain.
- Users: This entry gives the number of users within a country that access the Internet. Statistics vary from country to country and may include users who access the Internet at least several times a week to those who access it only once within a period of several months.
