Recognition of Abkhazia and South Ossetia Yasuaki Tanizaki , director general of the Japanese Foreign Ministry's European bureau, said "Our country is gravely concerned about the move. Faced with its own breakaway region, Transnistria , the government of Moldova released a statement saying it would not recognise the independence of Abkhazia and South Ossetia.
