DEFINITION: The number of US refugee status applications approved in the 2002 fiscal year divided by the number of applications filed in that same period. Note that the applications approved have often been filed in previous years. This explains, for example, why Ghana has a 2002 approval rate of over 100%. Figures expressed per million population for the same year.
