Instead of building prisons the best way is for the British Government to establish more industries that could use the crops grown in Malawi.If there is rising crime rate it is basically due to poverty. Building prisons is not a long lasting solution to this problem.For a long time the western countries have provided wrong solutions to African problems and surely building prisons would be such type of assistance.One can not stop ones child from becoing a drunkard by only giving him/her beer for his/her meals and put him in charge of a shop on beer.

Why can,t the Malawi authorities allow the British Government or private security company to build an Overseas Prison Service in their country. Prisons would need a large number of trained staff, recruited locally, including prison officers and support workers. Thriving communities would spring up around each prison. New homes schools, clinics, roads and employment etc would give a good standard of life to many of the poorer people of Malawi. The more prisons the more jobs etc. Create a new Australia with a multi billion pound prison "BUSINESS"
