- Food and drink > Alcohol > Alcohol consumed from > All drinks: Average liters of pure alcohol consumed annually from legally and illegally produced alcohol, by the population above 14 years of age. The consumption of tourists is excluded for countries with more tourists per year than resident population.

“Unrecorded alcohol” is not taxed and is outside of governmental control. It includes alcohol that is homemade (legally or illegally), smuggled or obtained through cross-border shopping. The consumption of tourists is excluded for countries with more tourists per year than resident population. “Recorded alcohol” is taxed and within governmental control. It excludes alcohol that is homemade (legally or illegally), smuggled or obtained through cross-border shopping.

Ten european countries top the list, all located at the East of the continent, with the exception of Greece.
