I notice that the top five leading countries are all third world countries. We need humanitarian assistance to make schools in these areas so kids can educate themselves enough to prevent this virus from harming them.

Indians with HIV are more likely to contract AIDS because of genes that hasten the disease’s progression, say scientists at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, who studied 200 HIV-infected people and 2000 healthy people over two years.

The study found that a gene linked to rapid progression from HIV infection to AIDS is two-and-a-half times more common in Indians than another protective gene. It also found that a protective variant of messenger molecules that attract immune cells to infection sites was not present in Indians.

In July 2004, India's National Aids Control Organisation reported that India had 5.1 million HIV-infected people, the second-highest total behind South Africa’s 5.3 million. Two years ago, the United States National Intelligence Council estimated the number of people with HIV or AIDS in India at five to eight million and warned the number could grow to 20 or 25 million by 2010.
