Recognition of Abkhazia and South Ossetia Foreign Minister Urmas Paet stated "Russia's move is a deliberate breach of international law and the principles of stability in Europe. Estonia, like all European Union and NATO member states, adheres firmly to the principles of Georgia\u2019s territorial integrity". Faced with its own breakaway region, Transnistria , the government of Moldova released a statement saying it would not recognise the independence of Abkhazia and South Ossetia.
