In response to Ioanna, Greece is first in cigarette consumption, with 4,313 being the approximate average number of cigarettes smoked per adult per year. That works out to about 12 cigarettes per person per day. Japan is fourth at 3,023 cigarettes smoked per person per year. That equals a little over eight cigarettes per day for every Japanese adult.

The nation formerly called Yugoslavia is now broken along ethnic lines into: Slovenia, Croatia, Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as Serbia and Montenegro. The WHO reports that more than 25% adults smoke in Slovenia.
